Some silly things

The Onion always makes me giggle, if not laugh out loud. It was pretty cool to see paper copies when we visited the US. This is the kind of thing I like to read in it.
A cool article that was missing for the first day of posting this
I’m also stealing something from the great Ben (Sylvar – a library guy in Florida). If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don’t speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.
It can be anything you want – good or bad – BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.
When you’re finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised…
Some of the responses Ben got were pretty cool 😀

  1. Oo, I found your blog whilst Googling for Coldspring Mill – cogs whirred and my brain retrieved your name from, like, YEARS ago. Didn’t we used to go to Guides together? Do you remember me? And do you see how you’ve created the perfect blog entry for me to add this comment to? If it turns out that I’ve got totally the wrong person, this is my made up memory about us! Genius. xx

  2. Oh my giddy aunt, that was donkey’s years ago! I hate to say it, but I really don’t remember, but I did go to Guides sporadically in Wrenthorpe (it pissed me off that we never did anything properly exciting – Emily Gaynor persuaded me to go back after leaving once, only for me to see that it was boring again after brief excitement)… Is that where you are thinking of? I am really crap with names and faces. My strongest memory of Guides is someone doing a skit in a show singing the song ‘Charlie had a Pigeon’, and going to Emley Moor and making a soap with a ribbon decoration around it. Woot! Gimme pics/more info/gossip about how all the Guides have turned into evil prison inhabitants 😀
What made you search for Coldspring – the yarn or the camping equipment? 🙂 If it was yarn – hoorah! If it was camping, still hoorah, but not as much.

  3. That’s where I’m thinking of, though I very much doubt I have any photos to jog your memory – I only have hazy recollections of you/fellow Guides, and I have no idea what has happened to any of the others. Maybe they ditched the ribbon-soaps and are walking the streets disguised as people who don’t know how to cook a pancake using an empty baked bean tin and a tealight. My mum was one of the Guide leaders for a while, with Mrs Roberts(?) and later Mrs Pomery. I was in the Thrush Patrol, which it now dawns on me was hideously inappropriate. I remember going to Emley Moor, and being taken to an agricultural show (!?) and Scissett swimming baths. I don’t think it was me who sang Charlie had a Pigeon (though I remember the song), but I do remember singing We’re a Couple of Swells with [someone..] in a show, and being in a play about [something..] with Emily Gaynor.
So, Guides having rid me of any desire to go camping ever again, I was searching for Coldspring for yarn purposes – I’d link you to my knitting/crochet blog, but I only remembered to write something on it once, and that was a long time ago. I’m not as good as you at knitting, but I’m progressing: my next project might be a Tubey from the new Knitty, or it might be an intarsia William Shatner.

  4. Hey there! I need your email to sign you up for the angelica kal. I’m guessing it’s you since you are the only Bryony I know : )
This will be mighty embarassing if it’s another Bryony :O
